National Settlement Depository (NSD) and VTB Registrar have carried out a joint workshop “Double Benefit: Advantages of Two E-Voting Services.”
The event’s agenda was dedicated to the benefits of using electronic voting services at shareholder meetings. Speakers described the advantages for issuers and shareholders who use both remote voting platforms.
Among the workshop’s participants were representatives of issuers and registrars. Speakers included Denis Buryakov, Managing Director for Depository Operations, NSD; Konstantin Lysenko, Head of Depository Operations Development, NSD; Maxim Getsman, Deputy General Director for Core Business, VTB Registrar; Vladislav Malykh, Head of the Digital Technologies Department, VTB Registrar; and Alexander Rybalchenko, Director of the Line, Corporate Governance Department, Rostelecom.
“NSD’s E-voting service and VTB Registrar’s service meet the interests of issuers and shareholders. Digital service integration allows all parties to save time and money,” said Denis Buryakov, Managing Director for Depository Operations, NSD.
Konstantin Lysenko, Head of the Depository Operations Development, NSD, added: “These services are similar, but each of them has its own specifics. E-voting allows users to vote remotely by utilizing the Single Window principle at different issuers’ meetings. E-voting functionality is supported in Russian and English; foreign investors find this very convenient.”
“VTB Registrar’s service allows registered shareholders to use many options, including monitoring their balances in accounts and dividends. We are also developing our mobile applications - QUORUM and VTB Shareholder – which are very helpful for legal entities and individual clients,” pointed out Vladislav Malykh, Head of the Digital Technologies Department, VTB Registrar.
“Since 2018, Rostelecom has provided its shareholders with an e-voting option, allowing them to select the most convenient e-voting service. This year, 60% of shareholders who attended the AGM used the e-voting option. An issuer that let its shareholders make a choice demonstrates its progressiveness and makes its investors’ lives easier and more comfortable,” said Alexander Rybalchenko, Director of the Line, Corporate Governance Department, Rostelecom.
“Interactions between the two systems results in significant synergy: an investor receives the right to select the most convenient instrument, and a company can connect more investors with the voting process,” said Maxim Getsman, Deputy General Director for Core Business, VTB Registrar.
